ABOut HAYES LAMOTHE

April 13, 2023 – June 19, 2025

Hayes, affectionately known as Hayesy Boy and Hayesy Daisy by his family and loved ones, came into the world in April 2023 and for two years gave a never-ending amount of joy and love to those around him.

Hayes shared a love of music, reading, dancing, spending time at the park with his friends, riding on the back of his Dad's bike, trips to Starbucks with his Mom, and most of all, the time he spent playing, learning and laughing with his sister and best friend Cole.

Hayes' warm smile and playful personality was felt even by strangers who would often smile back, wave and enjoy a few moments of happiness with our special boy.

One June 19th, 2025 Hayes suddenly and unexpectedly passed away in his sleep, just two months after his second birthday. His death was initially ruled SUDC (Sudden Unexplained Death In Childhood), and after the completion of an autopsy the cause was updated to SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy). Hayes was never diagnosed with Epilepsy during his life, and did not have genetic markers for Epilepsy. He did suffer from febrile seizures which are known to be benign in the medical community, and he did see multiple doctors in short life.

While we grieve our loss daily and miss him endlessly, we are so fortunate to have had two amazing years with a truly remarkable, bright and full-of-love boy who left his mark on us forever.

The Hayes Lamothe Foundation

The Hayes Lamothe Foundation was established in 2025 with the goal of supporting organizations and causes that directly benefit scientific research regarding childhood death, the needs of families of deceased children, and furthering programs related to the things Hayes loved.
